About

Aspasia Merkouri

A native speaker of Greek, I was born and raised in a beautiful island of the northern Aegean sea called Lesvos; upon setting my academic course, life brought me to yet another beautiful island, Corfu, of the northern Ionian sea this time. There I graduated in 2007 with a B.A. in Conference Interpreting from the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpreting, specialising in both translation and conference interpreting. After my exposure to this sector, my language passion required more and led me to yet another island led me to yet another island, further north, the United Kingdom: in 2009, I received my M.Sc. in Translating and Conference Interpreting (English-Greek, Greek-English) from Heriot-Watt University, in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Ever since, having become a Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists (membership number 26414) and having obtained a British citizenship as well, I am pursuing my professional career in the UK offering translation services as a certified translator for the Greek Embassy in London and the Greek Consulates in the UK, as well as for private clients and legal firms.

I have completed translations for the “Translations without Borders” organisation and for various individuals through PROZ, the online Community and Workplace for Language Professionals. You can see feedback from many of them on my membership page.
